Most are willing to step out of the box, assured that the goal is only obtainable with a plan to do so. However, once out of the box, the light of day strikes between the eyes, flashbacks to 'risk vs unknown reward' simply put them back in-- like cold groundhogs avoiding spring for what they know below ground is familiar.

Failure just means we're trying. If we're not trying, we're not failing - and that's bad. Right?

Yup! We find ourselves falling in love with our ideas too. It's very hard to let them go, but we're trying to get better at it for the sake of our clients.

Totally agree, Kathleen. The always-learning thing is powerful for me. I may be addicted to it. Is that bad?

It is so amazing that "The older I get the more I realize, the less I know and the more I can learn." Thanks for this reminder of humility, I make it my goal to learn atleast one new thing every day.

This post reminds me of when I learned to "drown my puppies", as one of my writing professors used to say. Drowning your puppies means asking yourself if an idea you are in love with will successfully achieve the end goal, and if it won't, giving it up even though it is so dear to you. It was one of the hardest lessons I had to learn but it taught me to have humility in both professional and personal situations.

I agree that true humility will open the doors creative inetractions. Jesus' act of humility in John 13 teaches us how to relieve the tension cut straight through the pride and self reliance issues that stand in the way of creativity. So start washing a few feet and see what happens next (Figuratively speaking)
"So He got up from the meal, took off His outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around His waist. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.” (John 13: 4-5)
