The environment at Blue Ocean Ideas is about what you would expect: fun-loving, creative, unconventional, and motivating all at the same time. We love humor and are generally laid back, but are fiercely committed to our clients work and making sure we deliver. We love working with people and believe that the people make the work worth working on.
We have a flat organization and are generally open book in how we deal with problems, solutions, finances, clients, etc. We thrive on new problems and love to innovate.
Outside of the office we have been known to vacation together, snowboard, play tennis, win at trivia and frequently have Words with Friends games on our iPhones. Bottom line is we like being together and that spreads into other areas of our lives.
Do you speak geek? Is CSS your love language? Is coding PHP recreational? Do you LOVE Wordpress and everything you can do with it? Have you ever found the right plugin and found yourself fist pumping and high five-ing invisible people? Are you an online fix-it person? Will you look me in the eye and guarantee, unconditionally, that you will carefully tend to our clients web projects like you would your own web child without excuses?
Can you survive happily on a modest salary per year while being a part of growing this agency - while your salary grows with it? In short, are you our new web developer extraordinaire? Now before you get all worked up and send me an email explaining how you can do all this from your home, let me say that it ain’t gonna happen. My new webmaster is going to spend 40 hours per week in the office next to mine in Towson, MD. If you don't want to work in a team from 8am to 5pm everyday, full-time, then quit reading; you and I have nothing to talk about.
I see you’re still reading. Okay. Now you’re probably wondering what you’re going to do with your time. Good question. You will be converting our carefully crafted, strategized, and beautifully designed websites into Wordpress (and other types of sites). And if we have a problem with any other technological oddity, you’re probably the person who’s going to have to get it figured out and fixed. Pronto.
You beginning to understand this job? It’s hectic and it's awesome. But you’re going to be working with a couple of design and marketing geniuses. We can't wait to show you some of our work. And you’re going to love your co-workers. Maybe one day you’ll pitch in to help unload a bunch of books from an 18-wheeler in the parking lot, then when you’re done, set up the lights and backdrop for our video guys. Bottom line: anything and everything is “your job.” We have about 4 people here who are trying to do the work of twenty. When you get here, we’ll have 5 people trying to do the work of twenty-five. The five people whose jobs you’ll be doing are the ones who make sure all the electrical stuff is hooked up and working. If it’s got electricity in it, it’s your domain. But never, ever forget: If I wake up realize our client work isn't carefully being tended to, you’re fired. Please know that I'm not kidding. Can you swing this hammer? Pansies and whiners need not apply.
Convince us that you’re the person we need. Send your story by replying to this post.
Tickled with Twitter? Fancy Facebook? Does "Will it Blend" bring back good memories for you? Get excited about building relationships online? Want to argue the best iPhone app for twitter (we all know Twittelator is the best)?
If you do then you may be our new social media guru (part time for now). This humble but extremely important position needs to be filled.
One of the ways we build brands is by representing our clients on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and more.
We're looking for about 10-20 hours per week. We are flexible, fun, and cool (most of us anyways). However, we are also results oriented and want to help our clients build their businesses. We do terrific work and want someone that also wants to do terrific work.
We don't need mindless admin help. We need "I can build an online personality for this company" help.
If you are thin skinned and can't take feedback please don't respond. If you are looking for a challenge that may or may not grow into something full time then reply to this message. We are really picky about people only because of how much we love our team and will only add people that will fit into it.
To apply for this position please send your resume, a brief description of why you'll be a good fit, and your contact information to the following link.
Do you have skills that aren’t covered here? If so, contact us anyway.
We’re always looking for exciting, inspiring people to join our team. If you don’t fit any of these titles we will make up a new one for you. Tell us why you think you Blue Ocean Ideas is the place for you and what skills you’ll be bringing to the team.
We love to be challenged by new faces, ideas, and ways of building brands. Send us an email, call us, write on our blogs, etc. Just get in touch so we can get to know each other.
